When all the curlers are removed, gently comb or brush the doll's hair into the desired style. Hold the doll between your legs to keep her still or place her in a doll stand. Use your fingers to finger comb the dolls hair to get rid of any big tangles. Put a hand towel or doll styling cape around her body to keep it dry.

Styling Techniques to Make Synthetic Hair Appear More Natural

This will allow the heat to penetrate the hair and curl it. Use the styling clip to hold the shape of the curl and attach it to the cap until cool. You will proceed with these steps throughout the piece. One risk of using heat to curl synthetic hair is that it can cause the hair to become frizzy or tangled. The high temperatures can disrupt the protective coating on the hair, making it more susceptible to damage.

Can I curl synthetic hair using heat styling tools?

This can result in the hair losing its shape or texture, and even becoming unusable. Cooling the hair is crucial when it comes to changing the shape of your strands with heat. Your hair will hold its style for much longer if you allow it the time to sit in its new shape. Give it at least 10 minutes of cooling before you let your synthetic hair down. Once your hair is primed and secure, it's time to start curling.

You can use a small amount of hair serum or oil to add shine and reduce frizz if desired. Flat ironing synthetic hair is indeed possible, but it requires a cautious approach due to the composition of the hair fibers. These fibers do not respond well to high temperatures and can melt or become damaged if exposed to excessive heat. However, with the right techniques and temperature settings, you can achieve beautifully straightened synthetic hair without compromising its integrity.

How to Curl a Wig with Hot Water

Another way to curl your hair without using heat is to use a headband. Then, twist the hair around the headband and secure it with a bobby pin. While using a wig brush may be the fastest way to detangle your wig, we advise against using a wig brush on curly wigs. A brush will cause the curl clumps to separate, creating frizz and a "puffy" look that lacks definition. Additionally, a synthetic wig is at its weakest state when wet.

Add hold and volume to your curls with this wig-safe mousse. For starters you want to wash your piece with the BeautiMark shampoo and conditioner; this will ensure you are working with a clean base. We hope that after reading our guide and knowing how to style your wigs on your own. This is a terrific way to restyle a wig so that the hair is in the direction of your preferred look. One thing I do realize is that everyone has their own way of maintaining their wigs and hair toppers.

To ensure that the curls last as long as possible, it is important to let them cool completely before touching or styling the hair further. This will allow the synthetic hair to set in its curled shape, helping the curls to last longer. Once cooled, gently separate the curls with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to create a more natural look.

One popular method is using hair rollers or flexi rods. Roll small sections of the synthetic hair around the rollers or flexi rods and secure them in place. Leave the hair rollers or flexi rods in overnight or for a few hours to encourage the hair to straighten. After the processing time has elapsed, rinse your synthetic hair under cool water until the water runs clear. Apply a conditioner specifically formulated for synthetic hair to restore moisture and softness. Rinse thoroughly and gently squeeze out any excess water.

Some gentle options include apple cider vinegar and sodium cocoyl isethionate, according to experts in our guide to clarifying shampoos. Okay, so you don’t need to use a pre-wash treatment, but it can be a good way to give your curls a little extra care. Having fine hair and curls can be tough since many defining creams can weigh them down. The featherweight formula is infused with argan oil to calm static and refine ringlets, all without ever feeling greasy or sticky. It works its magic to bring on the bounce for all curl types, from waves to tight coils.

Using a brush or applicator, apply the bleaching mixture evenly to the synthetic hair. Start from the ends and work your way up, avoiding the roots if the hairpiece has a weft or a base. Take care not to oversaturate the hair to prevent excessive damage. Additionally, synthetic hair has a memory effect, meaning it tends to revert to its original texture after being straightened. Despite these challenges, it is still possible to achieve straight hair with synthetic hair by using alternative methods that don’t involve high heat.

Credit a blend of five different oils, plus the fact that the formula is silicone-free, so you don’t ever have to worry about it weighing down your hair. While the "I woke up like this" look has never been cooler, those of us with curly or wavy hair know that it's not as effortless as it sounds. End papers can be purchased at beauty supply stores and some doll specialty shops.

If you want to curl your hair without using heat, you can also use a curling ribbon. This spray bottle makes a continuous stream of mist to make styling and refreshing your curly hair wig easy. Examine your wig and look for any "important" curls such as face framing curls, or any curls that look a little wonky. Add a little extra water to these pieces with a spray bottle and wrap the curl clumps around your finger in a spiral to create a neater, more defined curl.

Take a small section of hair and wrap it around the barrel of the curling iron or wand, starting at the root and working your way down to the ends. Hold the hair in place for a few seconds before releasing it. To help the curls last longer, finish off with a light mist of hairspray. The main benefit of curling synthetic hair is that it can give you a new look without having to commit to a permanent hairstyle. Synthetic hair is also more resistant to heat damage than human hair, so you don’t have to worry about damaging your hair when curling it.

The more you separate the curls the more voluminous your hair will be. Welcome to this blog, our store Rehairsystem is your go-to destination for buying premium toupees and customizing hair systems. We also have celebrity wigs in stock, or you can consult with our stylist to customize your exclusive hair replacement system. YOU MUST WORK QUICKLY and DO NOT let the hair dry out or let the appliances get too hot or it will burn the fiber. The heating temperature is different for every brand of appliance.

Gently comb through your synthetic hair using a wide-tooth comb or a brush specifically designed for synthetic hair. This will remove any tangles or knots and prepare the hair for straightening. Applying a solid shampoo isn’t much different from using a regular shampoo, according to our experts. First, ensure your hair is very wet before applying the product, and you’ll need to wet the bar as well. Then, either rub the bar directly onto your hair or lather it in your hands. Make sure the shampoo is really well distributed, and then rinse thoroughly, says Jordan.

If you don’t have a curling iron or wand, you can also try using bobby pins. Section off the wig into small pieces, and then curl the pieces around bobby pins. Hold the pins in place for a few seconds, and then release. Take one section at a time and twist it around your fingers. Then, coil the twisted section around a bobby pin and pin it in place. However, there are both pros and cons to consider before taking the plunge.

This method involves using hot water to set curls in synthetic hair. Dip the ends of your synthetic hair into the hot water for a few seconds, then roll the hair around flexi rods or perm rods. Leave the hair to cool and dry completely before removing the rods, revealing beautiful curls. When it comes to styling synthetic hair, there are a few different methods you can use. One of the most popular is using heat to curl the hair.

Best Cream for Curly Hair: The Budget-Friendly Option You Should Try

Follow the recommended processing time provided by the dye manufacturer. “First and foremost, I love the shape of this shampoo bar because it fits great in my hand and doesn’t slip,” says NBC Select updates editor Mili Godio. This shampoo is also available in a bundle with a hydrating shea butter conditioner bar. If you have a collection of shampoo bottles lining your shower walls, or are simply looking for a more sustainable alternative, you might want to consider a shampoo bar. Think of this curl cream as nutrient-rich food for your curly hair. It's ideal for tight curls, and it's formulated with sweet almond oil to keep them nourished.

Styling Products to Make Hair Curly

Yes, there are alternative methods to curl synthetic hair without using heat. This involves dampening the synthetic hair with water and then using rollers or flex rods to set the hair in curls. The hair should be damp, not soaking wet, as this allows the hair to dry faster and hold the curls better. Once the hair is set in rollers or flex rods, it should be left to air dry completely. This method may take longer than using heat, but it is a safer option for synthetic hair and helps to prevent damage.

Bleaching synthetic hair requires a different approach compared to natural hair due to the composition of the hair fibers. While natural hair is made up of keratin, synthetic hair is typically composed of heat-resistant fibers. Once her hair is dry, take the curlers out of the doll's hair. Be careful not to rip out hair as you remove the curlers.

One of the most popular ways to style synthetic hair is with curls. Curling synthetic hair is possible and can be done with the right tools and techniques. When curling the hair, wrap your hair around the curling iron and count to 15.

My mother and I started Headcovers when she went through breast cancer and couldn't find pretty hats or wigs to conceal her hair loss. To use, apply a small amount to damp hair and dry it as usual. Looking to add texture and make your strands more curly? If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to curl a cheap synthetic wig, here are a few tips that might help.

Stylists usually favor applying hotter heat in a more lasting manner. While the airbrush does assist in smoothing out frizzy ends, it does not produce a tight curl. Start by washing the synthetic hair with a gentle shampoo specifically formulated for synthetic hair.

Take your time and be thorough to achieve a consistent color result. I have tried this method on a few wigs and it works pretty well. I found the airbrush does help with smoothing frizzing ends but does not make a very tight curl, it will be more of beach wave. Bars with lightweight ingredients including jojoba oil will be better for people with fine hair or straight textures.

With this guide you'll hopefully be seeing a wild bush in no less than a month. Regardless of what you choose, you’re never going to please everybody. That said, below are some tips on handling different forms of chest hair. The truth is, while “light chest hair'' is generally considered the most attractive, your man-pelt shouldn’t hinder you all that much in the dating game.

Leaving a little more length will make you look like you have more hair. Sometimes, it might be harder to spot thinning in coarse or highly-textured hair, but the downside is that it’s harder to manipulate to cover up spots with just styling alone. For thinning coarse hair, “I recommend buzzing it down; it’s the easiest way to deal with it,” says Rosario. Before you start these at-home hair loss treatments, our experts recommend talking to a doctor to determine the type of hair loss you're actually experiencing.

The individual occurrence and characteristics of chest hair depend on the genetic disposition, the hormonal status and the age of the person. The genes primarily determine the amount, patterns and thickness of chest hair. Some men are very hairy, while others have no chest hair at all. The areas where terminal hair may grow are the periareolar areas (nipples), the centre and sides of the chest and the clavicle collarbone.

These blades, in some cases, can cut hair closer to the skin than a rotary blade and can also be used on other areas of your face like your neck, sideburns and eyebrows. Neither is inherently better than the other, and some trimmers will include both, and which you choose depends on your comfort level. It likely won’t regrow hair, but can help you keep the hair you have.

Use the same vertical trimming technique and go over the entire abdomen. You might have to go over each section multiple times if there are any leftover hairs. There are many different ways to deal with thinning hair, and one of the first should be tailoring your haircut. No two heads of hair are the same, which means no two heads of hair start thinning the same way. But there are ways to change your haircut to either help camouflage or embrace your thinning hair, whatever path you want to take.

If it sounds too good to be true that’s because it is – grown men have been reduced to tears by a back wax. To perform proper finishing touches, it is best to use light-touch small scissors for precision and accuracy rather than large electric trimmers or razors that may be too powerful and lead to errors in cutting. When managing chest hair, it is essential to remember the importance of trimming the abdomen area. Proper clean-up in this part of the body can make all the difference when it comes to a classic well maintained look or an unformed ‘wild’ result. We hope you learned something, and if we missed anything, we would love to hear your feedback in the comments below. If you are interested in other areas of manscaping, then be sure to check out our blog posts on happy trails, and trimming your balls here.

When you do, remember that it’s not just you–hair loss is extremely common. In fact, by the age of 35, around two-thirds of men notice some form of hair loss and that number climbs to 85 percent by age 50. Whether it's shaved, waxed, trimmed, or just left as is, there's no wrong way to show off your chest hair.

One time, I even made a half-joking (but secretly curious) attempt to use my mom’s Nair to get rid of the hair at the top of my arm – the result of which was gross, oily arm hair and irritated skin. These manscaping heroes rock a well-trimmed mat of hair on the top half of their chest but keep the stomach area smooth. As seen on Keith Lemon and Robbie Williams this look is popular across the board and sported by men of all ages. This early research established that it was common for men to have asymmetrical chest hair that followed different patterns on each side. So whatever odd chest hair you have, you’re probably not alone. A hairy chest can be a source of insecurity for some men, with beaches, public pools, and yard work on hot days all potential locales of shame for really hairy men.

There are other forms of hair loss to complicate things, though. Telogen effluvium is hair loss caused by high stress, surgeries or other internal issues like thyroid problems or vitamin D deficiency. There’s also alopecia areata, “caused by the immune system mistakenly attacking the hair follicles causing smooth circles of hair loss on the scalp and sometimes it the beard area,” says dermatologist Barry Goldman, MD. These and other types of hair loss are harder to treat, and if you aren’t sure what’s causing your thinning, it’s best to consult a dermatologist who can help identify it and formulate the best treatment plan with you. Take a quick quiz about your hair and lifestyle and MDHair customizes a treatment kit for you using their dermatologist-developed products based on your answers. How To Trim Chest and Stomach Hair: Grooming Guide for Men

Easy to use, trimmers give total control over how much hair you remove, get the job done in a matter of minutes and rarely cause nicks, cuts or irritation. Fast, simple and inexpensive, shaving is probably the easiest way to phase out the fur. But, as with shaving your face, you run the risk of razor burn, cuts and ingrown hairs.

Trim the Upper Chest

What we like most about it, apart from the cutting capabilities, is that the small design makes it ideal for travel and barely takes up any room in your dopp kit. The whole thing is on the larger side, which makes it easy to grip and use (plus makes it feel heftier and more powerful), but means it’s not the best for travel unless you tend to have ample room in your dopp kit. That’s easy for us to overlook, though, because it’s just that damn good.

The Risks and Benefits of Shaving vs. Trimming Chest Hair

Shaving your chest hair can increase your chances of getting ingrown hairs. Another common side effect of shaving your chest is experiencing an itching sensation when hairs grow back. So our takeaway from this survey is that overall, women like chest hair and even find it masculine, but they want you to keep it trimmed and maintained. I'm surprised by the low percentage of women who want men to be cleanly shaven. It seems women don't want a grizzly bear, or a little boy; they want something masculine yet neatly trimmed.

Depilatory Creams

An excessive growth of terminal hair on the body is called hypertrichosis. This medical term has to be distinguished from hirsutism that just affects women. These women can develop terminal hair on the chest following the male pattern as a symptom of an endocrine disease. Next, trim your abdomen area from the bottom of your chest to the top of your belly button.

Keeps Hairloss Treatment

But if you’re one of those hairy men who questions the purpose of his chest hair, science has discovered many benefits that come part and parcel with more hair on the pitch. This look was popular across the board, sported by men of all ages. Since the shaft of the penis tends not to have too many hairs, the best (and safest) way to remove them is to snip them off individually using safety scissors.

So if your dad and your grandfather both had some fluffy chests, there’s a great chance you will too. Even more, the level of attraction a woman has to chest hair could be strongly linked to her father. Studies on positive sexual imprinting suggest that we are likely to choose mates that resemble our opposite-sex parent (as if this topic wasn’t already strange enough). Interestingly, this same OnePoll survey found that more than half of guys think it is “unmanly” to shave anywhere except their face. And to take it a step further, just under half of those men surveyed thought practicing any “good” grooming habits was worthy of turning in your man card. That might seem like a ridiculous question but consider the following...

Ears & Nose

53% of women surveyed who are casually dating said that men should at least give their chest a simple trim, so it doesn't look like a carpet. THERE COMES a time in every man’s life when he looks in the mirror and wonders where his hair went. But statistically speaking, it will happen to (almost) all of us. And there are many reasons for it—genetics mainly, but also diet, stress, medication—the list goes on. Old Spice Pure Sport Dry Shampoo instantly refreshes hair by absorbing oil and debris, rebooting your style without the need for more product.

MDHair Hair Regrowth Treatment

The only downside is that for regulatory reasons, the medical consultation may not be available in your states, in which case you’d only be able to purchase minoxidil. Overall, however, the products are easy to use and even easier to get. Our body and groin trimmer from The Beard Club is the end result of years of research and innovation. With magnetic removable blade heads, two hours of battery life, and skin-sensitive no-nick technology, it’s a standout trimmer for every occasion.

If that’s the case, go with a higher razor head to get your hair a bit shorter. If you want a super close shave, just use the bare blade itself during your trim. Light chest hair with uneven coverage If you fall into this category, you pretty much can’t go wrong. You can let your chest hair breath as is, shave it, or trim it to a shorter length with an electric trimmer. Despite the fact that testosterone levels influence chest hair, women are not that into it when they’re at their most fertile, according to a study of nearly 300 women. Researchers found that more fertile women opted for men with less chest hair.

The rapper paired his with a perfectly trimmed goatee at the Grammys in 2006. Your chest is one of the first things someone will notice when you rip your shirt off at the beach or at the pool. And if it’s shrouded in wiry, curly hair, then it might not help you land the partner of your dreams. All it takes is time and patience for you to get the perfect trim.

If you’re nixing shoulder hair completely, then avoid razors and use a body trimmer. The shoulders are susceptible to breakouts, given they spend the whole day under your shirt, accumulating sweat and never breathing. This is why you want to trim the hair above the skin and avoid all of the problems that a razor invites.

On the flip side, your hair works to insulate your body when it is cold out, providing you with a nice layer of heat. When you look back at paintings and depictions of men back in prehistoric times, the one thing that pretty much all of them have in common is that they are covered in hair. At one point, this obscene amount of hair is the purpose of keeping the body cool in warm climates and warm in cold climates. After all, Ancient Greek and Roman statues depicted men without chest hair—particularly those of the Gods.

It should go without saying, but if you’re going to use a product, make sure you’re using it correctly. Before applying anything to your head, make sure you know how much to put on, how and when to apply it (and how often), and how long to leave it on your hair or if you need to wash it out. It’s safe to say you definitely won’t see any difference if you’re not using a product correctly, no matter what it is.

It is theorized that chest hair was a positive physical attribute thousands of years ago that helped keep your body warm. Chest hair also made it easier to visually spot fleas on the body. It's also believed the reason men have chest hair to this day is due to sexual selection. Men who had chest hair in the past were generally more healthy and had the opportunity to reproduce because they were perceived as more attractive and cleaner. Higher levels of DHT are also a cause for high hair growth in general, including on the chest.

Overwhelmingly, the most common type of hair loss in men is androgenetic alopecia, also known as Male Pattern Hair Loss (MPHL) and is “primarily driven by genetics and hormones,” says dermatologist Natalie Kash, MD. MPHL happens when a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) causes the life cycle of your hair to shorten, leading to increased shedding and loss. There is also increasing evidence that factors like inflammation and oxidative stress can contribute to MPHL, according to Dr. Kash. In some circumstances, you might only want to trim a little at a time.

45 Cutest Above-The-Shoulder Haircuts for A Perfect In-Between Length

shoulder length hair cuts

Opt for disconnected ends to amp up the texture and volume of your style. One of fun hairstyles to play around with is the faded-out highlights that are a new take on the ombré style. Cut choppy layers into a long bob for the ultimate A-lister hairdo. Angled, v-cut layers look great when styled straight and will make your cut unbelievably low-maintenance.

Above Shoulder Length Straight Hair

Layers can add volume and body to thin hair, which can be especially important if you want your hair to look thicker. If you’re not sure whether or not layers are suitable for you, consult with a hairstylist who can give you specific advice tailored to your individual hair type. Try a double waterfall braid if you want to add some texture and interest to too thin hair while also achieving that effortless, undone look! This look is perfect for more casual occasions, but it can easily be dressed up or down, depending on the style of your outfit. Start by parting your hair in half and brushing all of your hair back into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck.

#21: Neck-Length Soft and Modern Blunt Cut Bob

Medium length haircuts for women pair beautifully with ombre and balayage. Elevate the glamor of your bob with swoopy layers strewn around the coif. If you have naturally straight locks, this is a low maintenance look with a personal touch.

Textured Medium Cut

This shoulder-length bob cut can be pulled off on casual days or formal events. A glamorous long choppy, angled bob hairdo requires special products for hair color. The treatment must be intense to maintain your hair’s hue and care for your hair’s health. If your hair's texture is on the coarser side, angles and layers can remove weight and lift your style. "Use Sachajuan's Curl Treatment ($34) for soft, silky curls that won't frizz or fall," says Gillen. "I love how Oprah doesn’t hide her forehead but celebrates it by pushing the fringe up and over."

If you’re not sure whether or not layers are proper for you, consult with a hairstylist who can give you specific advice tailored to your hair type. If you already have medium-length hair and are looking for a way to mix it up without a whole new cut or color, try throwing on an accessory. Salma Hayek's bejeweled headband is the perfect touch to her sleek 'do. Tease your hair slightly at the crown to get instant volume. Creativity is key to anyone looking to sport unique medium length hairstyles.

How to Ask Your Stylist for a Boy Bob

Due to the braids, you would need medium to thick hair for this style. I want to categorize this as a California girl/beachy chic look. After brightening her up, we gave her a cut that could be easy for day-to-day or a fun weekend glam.

A few balayage sessions may be needed to create such a fluid and seamless ombre, but as the singer proves, it's oh so worth it. The '90s called—they said crimped 'dos look fabulous on shoulder-length hair. Just wash your hair at night, air-dry it until damp, braid three to four sections of hair, then sleep on them. Come morning you'll have gorgeous beach-y waves à la Madonna.

#20: Straight Wispy Layers on Medium-Length Brown Hair

To adapt them for shoulder-length hairstyles, go for a half-up, half-down approach. Instead of a traditional braid, try mixing a few techniques or layers. We’re all for braids, but we know that we don’t always have time for them. So if you want to whip up a quick yet memorable shoulder-length hairstyle, try this one. Twist two thick strands on each side and use a thin hair tie to unite them in the middle.

Face shape and cowlicks are additional aspects to consider when getting a fresh chop. Opt for some bangs or layers to customize the cut and enhance your best facial features. Curly hair may not get the same sharp edge but will look great when styled with a curl-defining cream and a hair diffuser. For a more finished appearance, Saviano says a standard blowout is the way to go. You can use a wide toothed comb to gentle comb your hair upwards, Or, if you're not opposed to heat, you can gently stretch out your hair and blow dry in sections. Winnie Harlow's effortless bun forgoes the fringe for defined edges.

Headwraps are a beautiful way of expressing your exotic personality and bringing life to your outfits. A colorful headwrap like this one can complement your shoulder-length hair magnificently. Another way to play around with braids is by going against the grain. Instead, try braiding a few strands in the front to frame your face flatteringly.

To layer or not to layer, to stack or not to stack, to bang or not to bang? These are all decisions you can make to create the best shoulder-length hair for you. A shoulder-length haircut might be the tweak you've been wanting, no matter the season.

Classic bobs are such a fun way to style your hair, they will leave you looking like a Hollywood a-lister. In the photo above she dyed her hair jet black and styled it super straight. She went with a middle part with the slightest swept-over style and it looks amazing. There’s nothing quite as sexy as a woman who knows how to rock a messy medium length hairstyle with an attitude. These shoulder-length hairstyles have a unique allure that few other styling ideas can compete with, as you can see.

Try a natural updo if you want some volume and body to thin hair while still keeping things as natural-looking as possible! This hairstyle is perfect for special occasions or simply when you want to switch things up a bit by giving your hair a different style. Start by applying some mousse or texturizing spray to damp hair and then use a large-barrel curling iron to curl 1-inch sections of hair all over your head. Once your hair is fully bent, brush it all back into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck and secure it with an elastic. Then, twist your hair up into a bun until you reach the top of your head. Finally, use your fingers to gently pull pieces out around your face for a softer look and secure everything in place with some bobby pins.

I prepped this hair with the Aveda Brilliant Damage Control. I use this on almost every guest because it’s a heat protectant and a detangler. Thick Dutch Braid

Finally, use a curling wand or flat iron to create the desired look, and finish with a light-hold hairspray. This winter, aim to get a bob that falls in the middle of the neck. It should be a chic modern bob with a blunt textured perimeter. Alternatively, you can achieve a relaxed look by using a 1 1/2-inch curling barrel. To complete this look, consider adding some balayage highlights that mimic the effect of the sun on your hair. Actually, it’s both, and it’s one of our favorite shoulder length hairstyles for women.

Messy Chocolate Lob with Caramel Highlights

Curl the ends (using your flat iron or a curling wand) for a ladylike, bouncy ‘do. To really get a volumized and texturized style, cut a shoulder-length hairdo with at least three different levels of layers. Use a curling iron to get your hair into the perfect wind-swept style.

This style gets added dimension from heavy highlights throughout. Sandra Bullock's razored ends and piecey texture keep this look from feeling overly serious, and her lowlights add further dimension. Replicate the look by spraying texture spray on blown-out hair—be sure to protect and prime your hair before styling, using a heat protectant. Simply loosely French braid the hair on top of the head and then, at about mid-level, tie all the hair in a high and pouffy ponytail.

Sleek Waves

The right cut can make hair look healthier, amp up volume, and instantly add shape to thinner hair. Don't let curly hair scare you from embracing a middle part. Center parts look great with all textures, as they automatically draw attention to your face ,while giving you crazy good volume. If your hair is on the thicker side, try this chic style a la Rihanna.

It's just the right length, and the soft waves add movement and volume. If you have flat, thin hair that is naturally straight, you'll find that going a little shorter may be your best bet. Taking a little more length off also reduces your hair's weight so you won't need to use as much product. Best of all, this style requires little upkeep—perfect for us low-maintenance girls. From mussy shags to tousled lobs, scroll on for some serious medium wavy hair inspo to show your stylist. Shoulder-length hair is easy to maintain, yet it can look frumpy and boring unless it has been given the right shape.

The look is still soft in that coveted I-just-woke-up-like-this way but frames the face in an entirely different manner. A center part and a lot of volume work beautifully for curls. "Be pretty liberal with the amount of product you apply," advises Colombini.

Take advantage of your lightening hair with this youthful shoulder-length hairstyle for women over 50. The vibrant bronde and flawless waves are also an easy trick in adding volume to your hair. Girls with gorgeous curly locks should try this easy yet lively look. If you’re looking for a way to lighten up the bulk that long, bouncy curls can give you, opt for this haircut that allows you to show off your fabulous natural curls. You have a bob look, but it’s long enough to still play with.

Then, divide your ponytail into two sections and start braiding each one until you reach the ends. Once you have reached the ends, pull small pieces out around your face to create that undone look and secure everything in place with some bobby pins. A blunt bob or lob is always sure to make a statement, as Maya Rudolph has proven in countless ways over the years. Here, a sleek, hydrated wavy texture helps the cut to stand out—a good deep conditioner and shine spray will help you to achieve this finish. Layers add volume and movement to an otherwise straightforward 'do.

The lob continues to be the most stylish cut for women, making mid length hair highly requested at salons everywhere. Worn with balayage coloring, it becomes the epitome of an up-to-date ‘do — soft caramel, in particular, is the perfect shade to brighten any face. Face-framing, bottleneck Birkin bangs are great on any length, but we love the punky edge it adds to Jenna Ortega’s shoulder-length hair.

Women who are looking for a fun, youthful ‘do may consider copying this cut. Shoulder length hairstyles often need well-shaped layers in order to create a nice, smooth flow in your hair. For a rounded shape, opt for side bangs and swooping layers that fall right at your shoulders.

DW Collectors Series Vs Design Series Ultimate Comparison

dw design series

We believe that great furniture is not only to be looked at but to be used. We take great care in designing our furniture so that it stands the test of time. Well in this article, I’m going to be comparing the legendary DW Collectors series Vs Design series to understand the differences and see which offers the best value for the money.

While he is a full-time drum teacher, he is also working on growing a YouTube channel where shares his insights. You can see him playing there, or on Instagram where he posts daily videos. The Frequent Flyer version is fantastic if you travel and gig often while the acrylic version is great if you’re going for aesthetic appeal. Unsurprisingly, the kit also works well in live gigging situations.

Best Drum Solos of All Time (Live & Studio Performances)

However, the quality of build is said to be of a similarly high standard and all drums are produced with comparable tooling to their Californian counterparts. As a further means of keeping prices competitive, at present DW are only offering one standard shell pack and a limited choice of drum sizes and finishes. These drums are built from North American maple shells that offer a wonderful attack, projection and tone. The DW Series drums come in a selection of stunning finishes. On the other hand, the bass drums give a confidence-boosting low end that can be felt. This Taiwanese company decided to manufacture the design series in its factory in Taiwan to reduce labor costs drastically.

Pro-quality, Taiwanese-made kit

The drums translate extremely well through microphones and work great in a variety of musical styles. The kit has all the same finish options that the standard 5-piece has. The selling point of the kit is that it’s an affordable DW option. However, it still comes in at what many prospective buyers would call a hefty price. Usually the dampening consists of a single pillow in the shape of a dog bone - DW has opted for two separate pillows and dispensed with the middle section. After some minor de-wrinkling of the batter and applying more tension to the front head, we are ready to go.

The Design of the Design Kit

It features all of the great hardware as on the other Design Series kits but rather than the maple shell, you are getting a 5mm thick seamless acrylic shell. The DW Design Series Mini-Pro Drum Kit is designed as a high-end drum kit for younger players. When children are learning to play the drums one of the biggest obstacles to overcome is the size of the drum kit.

Hand-sprayed, wet sanded, and hand-rubbed finishes that enhance the natural beauty of wood grain through elegant gloss finishes. Our team of designers are standing by to help you achieve your vision. With over 30 years of experience, no project is too big for us.

With that being said, this kit is definitely used by pros and amateurs alike. Apart from the kick, all of the heads are in situ and in a reasonable state of tuning - albeit a tad too high for us on the toms. The initial task involves fitting the two supplied BDF2 dampening pillows and putting both drum heads onto the kick.

Mike Portnoy Drum Set and Gear Breakdown

Buying a DW Collectors Series drum set on the other hand is the ultimate custom experience. You can choose to buy any finish or drum set configuration, and choose your woods, hardware type, shell depths, and more. Or you can choose one of the many standard finish options including exotic, hard satin, lacquer, satin, and finish ply choices. But this comes at a cost; with DW Collectors series drum sets carrying a much heftier price tag. The DW Design series drums boast thicker North American Maple shells that produce warm and rounded tones throughout the kit.

Innovative sounds by design.

However, the affordable price does not mean that the drum kit has low build quality. This new Design Series goes with the trend of ’boutique-inspired pro-quality drums. As with all Design Series drums, the shells are 100 percent North American maple; toms and bass drums are 8-ply while the snare drum is 10-ply. The rack toms on this kit sound extremely punchy, having a strong attack with little sustain. No standard snare drum is included, but you can use the 14” floor tom as a snare if you needed to. The kit comes with a 14” snare, 10” and 12” rack toms, a 16” floor tom, and a 22” bass drum.

The Design shells are built in Taiwan; I assume this helps keep the cost down a bit. The STM tom mounts we all know and love come standard with Design Series drums. They are insanely good value and the sound they produce is astonishing. The hand picked North American shells are a delight to play, and despite the fact these drums are built overseas the quality is flawless. That’s excellent news for any drummer who has ever dreamed of owning a fully-fledged DW drum set, but has not been able to justify the enormous price tag.

You can expect to pay three times more for a Collectors Series drum set than if you were to buy a DW Design Series drum set in the same setup configuration. DW understandably has reduced the available choices for the Design Series to the most popular configurations and a select number of finishes. Which in my eyes is a very sensible move, and the finishes are fantastic. Jumping straight into the review, let’s take a look at the finishes on offer for both DW series, and see how they compare. At 20"x12", the bass drum is probably the defining component of the kit. DW felt that it was crucial to incorporate as big a diameter as possible and let the portability come from a reduced depth.

The company is well-known for making high-quality expensive kits and this kit offers many of the same features with more accessibility. I truly wish the lugs were the size of regular DW lugs, but this is just a small gripe. Despite variations in the build process, the shells sound incredible for the price-point.

But this is completely understandable and ought to be expected. To be able to produce drum sets and reduce the price tag significantly requires streamlining manufacturing processes. The shells are smaller and lighter while the rack tom mounts to the bass drum instead of a cymbal stand. The kit is made with a combination of HVLT and HVX maple shells that give it a strong attack with resonating harmonics.

This timbre matching is allocated to DW drum sets and enhances the collective sound of the drum set. Diving right into this DW Design Series review, let’s look at the sounds this 5—piece shell pack has to offer. Straight away I was blown away by the incredible tone and warmth of these drums. Design Series HVLT™ shells feature edges that are precision-cut to both 45 degrees (toms) and 60 degrees (bass and snare) and tested on a flat stone for gaps.

Design 4-Piece Kit

dw design series

On a blind test, it’s genuinely difficult to tell the difference between the sounds of the Collectors Series Vs Design Series with the same drum set configuration. Both drum sets sound full, and have a pronounced low end and responsiveness. The short distance between the heads means that the response is both immediate and carries with it a hard edge that opens up the possibilities of many more musical settings.

DW Design Series Premium DW Drums at an affordable cost

I would say the Collectors Series drums sound a little more full and have a slightly smoother tone overall across the kit. DW's Mini Turret lugs - a shrunken version of the company's distinctive rounded lug - are fitted in ideal proportions across the drums. Despite their minimal footprint, each lug is attached to the shell by two bolts. The DW Design Series Piccolo toms were designed with the legendary drummer Terry Bozio. These are made from chrome-plated steel and are 2.5″ in depth. The Design kits also feature the DW triple-flange hoops on the toms and snare with the snare also having a MAG throw-off.

It’s the complete package – delivering premium sounds and looks at a fraction of the cost of a DW Collector’s Series. Drum Workshop (DW) is now among the most trusted drum manufacturers in the world. They are producing a high-quality drum set that is suitable for all drummers. No one should complain because DW has drummed for amateurs as well as professionals. These drums are clear and responsive and have a very warm sound to them.

DW's Frequent Flyer kit was launched at NAMM 2014, joining the company's Taiwanese- manufactured Design Series. Devised at the request of jazz maestro and DW endorsee Peter Erskine, the Frequent Flyer is an off-the-shelf, no-compromise compact kit. For under $1700 (£1500, €1600) you are getting a lot of drum for your money. Almost every part of the kit matches up against the premium DW Collector Series kits.

The two toms both share relatively short depths as well but are nowhere near as condensed as the kick. At 12" and 14" in diameter they offer a useful range of tuning options. A characteristically jazzy 'ping' is possible at high tensions, with the clean projection ensuring that notes almost leap forth. A DW STM suspension mount is fitted to the tom as standard.

My DW Design Kit Reviewed

All of the heads are single-ply and the rims of the toms and snare are graduated in two thicknesses according to drum size. Altogether this should maintain an open drum sound and allow plenty of projection. It’s new to the series and John Good believes this process is what gives the DW Design the inital attack and articulation. The snare drum included with the drums is the only drum configured with the traditional HVX ply configuration as we see in the Performance Series. The HVLT North American maple shells deliver incredible tonal clarity and projection. These drums produce a great amount of attack with just the right level of sustain.

The drums are hand-picked North American Maple, which is a superb choice of wood for many players. Many of the Collector’s Series drums are also made from NAM. Even though the cost of labor is drastically reduced, the quality of the drums is just as high, as they are produced with similar quality tools and profoundly skilled workers. The snare drum is very comparable to my DW Collector’s Series maple snare drum sporting similar dimensions. Once I got everything together and tuned up, I was so happy when I struck my first note.

From the very first smack of the beater, this drum proves instantly impressive. In order to maintain this level of affordability, all of the drums in the new series are made in DW's Taiwanese factory, where the cost of labour is drastically reduced. The standard of build is nothing short of superb, faultless in fact. Traditionally, DW drums are made with 1/36″ veneers, but the DW design shells are made of a thicker veneer, measuring 1/32″.

The newly designed mini Turret lugs, STM suspension mounts, True-Pitch tuning rods, and Remo heads also help to allow these drums to deliver killer sounds. The shells of the toms and bass drum are formed with DW's proprietary HVLT (Horizontal Vertical Low-Tension) process. This follows an arrangement of a vertical grained inner, horizontal outer and cross- laminate plies sandwiched in between. DW offers one standard shell pack and a reduced choice of drum sizes and finishes to keep a competitive price. The features that can be used to differentiate the design series from any other DW drums line include; grain orientation, lugs, thicker veneers, and sound.

One noticeable thing that separates this kit from the higher-priced DW kits is the white resonant head on the bass drum. The Design Series drums are made from North American hard rock maple wood. The maple wood gives them a warm tone that works well in a variety of musical styles. The hardware used on the shells makes the drums sing beautifully, typical of a DW drum set. With very little tuning, the toms soon get the thumbs up with their unhindered single ply heads allowing the drums to ring freely, giving greater potential for projection. They are well focused and each strike comes with plenty of attack, clearly discernible from each of the previous strikes, which aids articulation.

If you opt for the DW Design Series drums, you can be confident you will receive a professional level drum set in every way. The sound will be incredibly close to that of a DW Collectors Series drum set, and at a fraction of the price. The DW Collectors Series offers the perfect balance of tonal clarity, projection, attack, sustain, and warmth. These drums sound as good as you’d expect from a top-of-the-range flagship drum set. DW has taken lots of high-end features from the Collectors Series and put them into the Design Series drum set whilst keeping the price affordable.

The drum toms have a clear top and bottom drum head, while the snare drum batter is a Remo ‘Controlled Sound’ equivalent that has a reverse dot stuck to the underside. Now we come to the biggest difference between the two drum sets – the price! The new models have been re-engineered with dual shell fixings and a special fixing arrangement. The snare drum has a set of centralised mini lugs with extended portions designed to accept the tension bolts top and bottom, giving a slight 'propeller look'. The mini turret has been used on some special drum editions in the past, but DW has no future plans to use them on any other series. The design series of drums suit the drumming needs of the current generation.

The resonance is incredible—sustaining for more than a few seconds. I can attest in this DW Design Series review that I am so impressed with the quality of the craftsmanship of these drums; it looks to be equal to that of DW’s American produced drums. You may assume in this DW Design Series review that this would be a significant compromise – potentially sacrificing the quality of the drums. The kick drum produces a powerful low-end tone that packs a real punch.

One of our favorite hair masks is Suave Almond + Shea Butter Moisture Mask for its powerfully nourishing formula that leaves hair silky smooth to the touch. This process is gentle on the hair, offering more moisture to lock in. Coarse hair is often simply a person's natural hair texture, largely influenced by genetic factors such as family characteristics and ethnic backgrounds. Wide-toothed combs and brushes with rounded tips may help protect the hair while styling, while nylon bristle brushes can help detangle coarse hair. The brush type and size depend on a person’s hair thickness or density.

Is Career Training Right For You?

Take advantage of the full looks you can create with thick hair. Keeping your thick hair short will help emphasize the volume if you’re looking for ways to show it off. The best time to detangle your hair is post-wash, but go slow and be careful, as your hair is most vulnerable when wet. Invest in a mixture of small and large indoor plants and pop them in pretty DIY plant stands and then dot them around the room over shelves, sideboards, and mantlepieces. It's an easy style to copy too, just keep everything very muted and soft. It is a nice way to add another pale color to the room and add to that rustic feel. You can actually DIY paneling if your home hasn't got any originals – next weekend project sorted. To identify the direction a house is facing, stand outside the main entrance with the house behind you. Now, take a compass and place it horizontally on your hand in front of your chest. The distance between the north-east and north-west, is divided into nine equal parts and it is the fifth pada that is auspicious.

Keep a few pieces of camphor balls for good vibes at home and replace them once it is used up. A set of two elephants helps in bringing good luck and love when placed towards the north direction in the bedroom. Light fittings positioned along the north and east walls bring positivity and good energy.

Sometimes your favorite piano is the elephant in the room due to its size. Instead of hiding it in your basement, give a grand piano the spotlight it deserves. 45 modern living room ideas to give your space a new look

house living room design

Here, we've rounded up gorgeous — yet attainable — living room ideas to pair with every home aesthetic. Modern living rooms are comfortable and inviting spaces built for relaxed family time and casual entertaining. Today's living rooms include elements like ultra-comfortable seating, built-in TV walls, and a focus on natural light. This Hollywood Hills home, designed by Studio Mellone, proves you don’t need particularly modern furniture to create a living room; colorful artwork will do just the trick.

Why are north-facing homes considered popular?

The oversized sofa is the perfect fuss-free option for the young family of four, while a floating chair and coffee table round out the room and make it more friendly for visitors. Proof that versatile grey doesn't have to be boring, this living room has been carefully curated with ornaments, a flamingo print artwork, and books. It's all in the details though, and the tiled fireplace, combined with the layered textures (upholstered armchair, log basket, patterned cushion and jute rug) add plenty of character. Envelop your lounge with cocooning silhouettes and wavy shapes that flow and soothe the soul. Think sculptural artwork, scalloped edges on accessories, round coffee tables, and sweeping sofas that ‘cuddle’ and promote sharing and socializing.

App: Living Room Trends

Think about how different fireplace ideas could resurrect a tired space – whether the fire is functional or not. We are loving this super chic modern fireplace idea with its curvy silhouette. You’ve heard us say this before – never underestimate the power of changing your cushions and throws. These small changes can make a huge difference to the look of your living room. A new print – we like the polka – a bold color or simply a new texture can instantly update your sofa and chairs. Choose a color theme that's not too chaotic, pick frames of different sizes and leave some space between the pieces.

Go for a modern rustic vibe

The home's decor is made up of painted sheetrock walls, with a spruce tongue and groove ceiling and hardwood floor. Its most notable feature is the layout which, as mentioned, places the bedroom downstairs and raises the living room to another level, like Baluchon's Ellèbore. The arrangement means that it's a lot easier to get into bed, especially as the owner ages.

Opt for Twin Tables

If you happen to use the first pada, in that case, the main door or the entrance should not touch the north east corner. Do not consider the 6th pada for designing the north entry main door of the house as it can lead to in health problems. There are lots of ways to incorporate this enduring combination into your home. When selecting paint shades, consider the orientation, of the room, suggests Simon Temprell, interior design manager at Neptune. ‘Blue and white has been a classic color combination forever as it is clean, crisp, and uplifting, especially in south-facing rooms. In a north-facing room, you might need to use a warmer white to offset the chill,’ he explains.

Curate Coffee Table Books

While “modern” and “contemporary” are often treated as synonyms and used interchangeably, there is a technical difference between the terms.

Choose a Sculptural Light Fixture

Opposites on the color wheel, shades of yellow — like mustard — pair beautifully with light and dark blue tones. The power of opposing color combinations is evident in this striking space from Bethany Adams Interiors. Modern living room ideas have become hives of activity for anything from relaxing, to socializing, Zoom workouts, mindful meditations, and home working.

Avoid planting mango, banana or lemon plants in the north direction. In a north-facing balcony, one can grow tulsi (which is auspicious), spinach, lettuce, mint and parsley.

Illuminate living room lighting ideas and combine task and ambient designs to affect the mood of your space as and when you need it, from dawn to dusk. We're loving the dark blue-green color in this living room corner by Avery Cox. It's stylish enough to hold its own against the rich chartreuse velvet fabric and the layers of quirky prints.
